Don’t have a large outdoor space to work with? Maybe you have a few window boxes, or want to put a contained plant on your front porch? Gardening in containers is the perfect solution for smaller spaces, and can be adapted to fit your environment.

18-36", plastic or ceramic with drainage holes

Tall thriller plant, filler plants, spiller plants

Fill container to the brim with potting soil (do not tamp down or “bang pot” causes soil compaction).

Tip

Make sure there’s no gravel in the bottom to improve drainage.

Remove pots of each plant, loosen roots.

Plant each plant into container (tall thriller plant, filler plants, spiller plants).

Tip

Plant plants in groups of 3 (odd numbers: 1/3/5).

Water to saturate once, wait 20 minutes. Repeat, then water to saturate.
