Repotting — or potting — a houseplant can be done easily, no matter what space you’re working in. Adding a houseplant to your home can make an apartment, townhome or house feel warmer and more colorful.

Gently remove houseplant from container.

Loosen soil from around roots.

Trim roots with pruners or soil knife if necessary.

Fill new pot with potting soil 2/3 full.

Place houseplant in center of container.

Fill in around root ball with new potting soil.

Tip

Do not tamp or press down on soil.

Water to saturate 3 times, waiting 20 minutes between waterings.
